OVERTIME! Quartet Information

In April of 1999, Over Time became an SPEBSQSA quartet, entered their first contest and won. In January of 2000, they were named the 2000 International Seniors Champions! The quartet's accumulated is 251 years (and counting). This includes 150 years of SPEBSQSA membership. Our original tenor Jim Richards, left the quartet in the summer of 2000.

The new tenor, (the baby of the group at 56), is Gary Raze, of Eugene, Oregon. He is well known not only for his antics on the Les Schwab battery commercials, but in the very funny McKenzie Touring Company quartet. Gary joined the Society in 1978. A veteran middle school teacher of 32 years, Gary fit right in with Over Time. He likes to think we chose him for his good looks. It's a bonus that he can sing. Married to LeAnne for 32 years, they have a son and daughter and two grandchildren.

Lead, Jerry Harrison, is 67 and joined the Society in 1961. He has two Evergreen District quartet championships under his belt: '66 The Bay Shore Four, and '82 Cascade Connection. A prolific songwriter, Jerry comes from a gospel music background, and has written many songs currently sung by SPEBSQSA and SAI quartets and choruses. Jerry owns his own Group Insurance Company, Jerry Harrison, Inc. in Eugene, Oregon. He and wife Paula, married for 48 years, have two daughters and three grandchildren.

Bass "Bud" Roberts, who joined the Society in 1958, has won the District quartet championship 3 times: '74 The Bright Side, '77 Four Cheers, and '83 Pacific Pride. At 61, Bud has had a lifelong love of music, performing in musical theater and numerous jingles on radio and TV in addition to his barbershop accomplishments. He and his bride, Suzanne, share eight childred and nine grandchildren. Suzanne and Bud own the West Portland and Beaverton Home Instead Senior Care franchises (Bud is a retired Civil Engineer).

Mel Knight, 67-year old baritone, has been a member of the Society for 40 years. He won the Evergreen District quartet championship with The Cascade Connection in 1982 and directed the Eugene, Oregon chorus to district championships in '82 and '83. He is a Music Judge, arranger and coach, was the Society's Director of Music Education from '88 - '94, and is in the District Hall of Fame. He and Pat have been married since 1956 and have three children and two grandchildren.
