Since 1955 the Granite Statesmen have been performing in that wonderful, uniquely American, musical art form known as barbershop harmony. Based in Nashua, NH, the chapter membership includes men from all walks of life, from the ages of 20 to beyond 80 and from over 40 towns and cities in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
As members of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America, Inc., they regularly compete throughout the Northeastern District of the Society and are seven-time NED Chorus Champions. In addition to local performances, competitions and performances have taken the Chorus to Calgary, Montreal, Nashville, Kansas City, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Portland, Oregon, the Netherlands and Germany. Under the musical direction of Steve Tramack since 1996 the Chorus has grown to an active membership of over 90 men. Having fun while singing well is the watchword of the Granite Statesmen and the reason to gather each Wednesday evening in Nashua for harmony and fellowship.
